Travel Planner – A travel planning service
tailored to your interests and budget.
A mobile app that helps users find a trip that fits their interests and budget, book transportation and accommodation, and organize their trip into a single itinerary.

Task
Design a mobile service that helps users plan a trip around their interests, budget, and preferences — from choosing a destination to booking transportation and accommodation and creating a personalized itinerary.
Research
Conducted 10 in-depth interviews with people who travel regularly to understand how they plan trips, which services they use, and what challenges they face.

Key insights
Travelers typically choose a destination first, then arrange transportation, accommodation, and activities.
They compare prices and booking conditions across multiple platforms.
Accommodation choices depend on price, location, photos, reviews, and details about the property.
Finding accommodation that meets all their requirements is challenging.
Listings often lack information about nearby amenities and attractions.
Travelers have to research local attractions and events on their own.
They want to plan their entire trip using a single service.
During peak season, suitable accommodation becomes more expensive or sells out.
Before booking, travelers check hotel websites and available loyalty programs.
Payment restrictions on international platforms can make bookings difficult.
Competitive Analysis
Analyzed direct competitors, industry leaders, and services with similar interaction patterns to understand how different products solve trip-planning tasks throughout the user journey.
Based on the analysis, identified effective patterns and approaches that could be adapted for the product.
User Flow
Mapped the sequence of actions from choosing a destination to planning an itinerary. This helped define the product structure, key steps, and screens needed before moving into interface design.
Design System
The interface was built using a custom design system with reusable components and consistent visual guidelines.
1. Destination Selection
During onboarding, users select their interests and budget.
The system then uses this information to suggest suitable destinations, reducing the number of options and helping users find a suitable trip faster.

2. Destination Card
Collected key information about the destination on one screen: reviews, attractions, events, and local amenities.
This helps users compare options and make a decision without switching between different services.

3. Transportation Selection
The in-app flight search allows users to compare options by price, travel time, and number of stops without switching to another service.
A low-fare calendar and price alerts help users choose the best time to book.

4. Accommodation Selection
Cards highlight the key differences between accommodations, while filters help users find an option within their budget. The map and information about the surrounding area help users evaluate the location.
Reviews, details, and availability indicators help users compare options and decide where to book.

5. Booking
The summary brings all trip details into one screen, allowing users to review the destination, dates, transportation, accommodation, and total cost before payment.
Payment methods and special requests allow users to complete the booking according to their needs.

6. Trip Itinerary
The itinerary combines accommodation, tickets, and activities into a day-by-day travel plan.
The map shows all locations and the distances between them.
